Cover Story: Achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires collaboration among governments and various stakeholders. This collaboration is based on a huge volume of documents that need to be processed by government officials. NLP can offer valuable support for progressing towards SDGs by automating this document processing. The presented study introduces IndoGovBERT, a pre-trained language model (PTLM) built with domain-specific corpora, leveraging the Indonesian government’s documents. The model facilitates SDG document processing by the Indonesian government. Extensive tests of IndoGovBERT in comparison with other relevant models demonstrated its superior capability in governmental settings. The proposed PTLM development methodology can be used to build high-performance PTLMs for governments around the globe. View this paper
