Cover Story: Collected software analysis data are often stored separately from the measured software repository and analyzed by third-party tools and services, keeping the data external and the repository lean. This limits reuse and further analyses considerably. We propose to use available functionality in continuous integration (CI) and the git API to store software analysis data within a software repository and integrate this process into GitHub. Specifically, we use the git object database and associate measured commits with their static source code metrics data and provide an integration into the CI using GitHub Actions. We demonstrate and evaluate the approach on open source projects and provide per-project software map visualizations for direct integration into project websites. View this paper
