Cover Story: Collaborative robots will be the distinguishing features of the next generation of smart factories where human workers will share their skills with robots. Intuitive human–robot interactions have produced increasing safety challenges. To address these primary challenges, robots should be integrated with a vast number of sensors. Therefore, flexible robot skin for collaborative robots will become an important research field.
