Cover Story: Inspired by the problems associated with osteochondral defects, we fabricated cytocompatible, biomimetic, and highly porous 3D architectures of sodium alginate (SA) and Gel based on 3D printing technology for cartilage repair. Various physicochemical attributes, as well as the mechanical properties and chondrogenicity of the scaffolds, were explored to prove their efficiency. Furthermore, the cartilage repair was explored with a simple growth regulator, ICA treatment. The picture on the cover by Kankala and co-workers schematically illustrates the efficiency of highly porous 3D architectures in cartilage repair. View the paper here.
