Cover Story: The search for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is advancing rapidly as cutting-edge developments bring hope to those living with this neurodegenerative dementia and their loved ones. AD causes memory impairment, behavioral changes and loss of ability to function independently. The goal of disease-modifying therapy is to slow, prevent or even reverse the death of neurons in the brain. Creative strategies to accomplish this are under investigation around the globe. In light of the complex and multifactorial etiology of AD, a combination of approaches may hold the key. View this paper
