Published since 1920, MEDICINA is a peer reviewed monthly scientific journal of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Lithuanian Medical Association, Vilnius University, Rīga Stradiņš University, the University of Latvia, and the University of Tartu.
The journal’s main focus is on reviews as well as clinical and experimental investigations. The journal aims to advance knowledge related to problems in medicine in developing countries as well as developed economies, to disseminate research on global health, and to promote and foster prevention and treatment of diseases worldwide. MEDICINA publications cater to clinicians, diagnosticians and researchers, and serve as a forum to discuss the current status of health-related matters and their impact on a global and local scale.
The journal serves as a platform for exchange of knowledge by publishing original research articles, reviews, and case reports that will contribute to the current knowledge and encourage future research including, but not limited to, the following subjects:
- Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine
- Neurology (clinical)
- Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
- Cancer Research
- Pharmaceutical Science and Pharmacology
- Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism

Medicina is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). MDPI takes the responsibility to enforce a rigorous peer-review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure to add high quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. Unfortunately, cases of plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like, do arise. MDPI takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously and our editors are trained to proceed in such cases with a zero tolerance policy.
