Sports Medicine and Sports Traumatology

A section of Medicina (ISSN 1648-9144).

Section Information

The Sports Medicine and Sports Traumatology Section addresses a broad spectrum of physical activity, exercise and sport from a perspective that integrates applied research and scientific communication. There is currently strong scientific consensus on the preventive and therapeutic value of physical exercise, both in preserving health and in managing a range of prevalent conditions.

The sustained growth in sports participation and physical training has been accompanied by an increase in the incidence of sports-related injuries, underscoring the importance of research and clinical dissemination in the fields of sports traumatology, rehabilitation and physical reconditioning.

This Section promotes the publication of studies focusing on the physiological, biomechanical and clinical mechanisms and approaches involved in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning of sports injuries, as well as the prescription of physical exercise that aims to maintain and restore functional health.
