Topic Information

Dear Colleagues,

Functional disorders in cells and organisms may arise from endogenous alterations in gene regulation, metabolism, and cellular signaling, as well as from exposure to environmental toxicants, pharmaceuticals, endocrine disruptors, and other xenobiotics. These perturbations can disrupt cellular homeostasis through oxidative stress, DNA damage, impaired repair mechanisms, mitochondrial dysfunction, and epigenetic alterations, ultimately compromising reproductive competence, metabolic balance, fertility, and organismal health.

This Topic welcomes original research articles, reviews, and methodological studies addressing the molecular mechanisms linking environmental and pharmacological exposures to reproductive and metabolic dysfunction. Areas of interest include reproductive stem cell biology, gametogenesis, gamete quality, fertilization, embryonic development, reproductive metabolism, endocrine regulation, tissue homeostasis, infertility, and transgenerational effects.

We particularly encourage studies integrating experimental evidence with in silico, computational, and artificial intelligence-based approaches. Relevant methods include bioinformatics, systems biology, multi-omics integration, machine learning, molecular docking, protein–protein and protein–ligand interaction analysis, protein–DNA/RNA interaction studies, homology modeling, molecular dynamics simulations, network pharmacology, cheminformatics, computational toxicology, and QM/QM-MM investigations. Contributions combining cellular, biochemical, omics, structural, computational, and AI-assisted analyses are especially welcome.
