The Relationship between Renewable Energy Consumption and Economic Growth

Effective energy utilization is a prerequisite for economic growth. However, the unwarranted usage of fossil fuel is a detriment to the ecosystem. Using renewable energy results in minimal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; accordingly, many economies are striving to foster energies from various renewable sources, e.g., hydro, solar, geothermal, and wind power. Renewable energy has an important role in reducing ecological pollution and global warming, and accomplishing sustainable growth. Concurrently, both advanced and developing countries must sustain efficient economic development. Using non-renewable energy might yield high productivity and nurture economic expansion, but unquestionably adds substantially to carbon emissions and ecological deterioration. Deciding on whether to use fossil fuel or non-renewable energy puts nations in a difficult position strategy-wise, having to choose between greenhouse gas cutbacks and economic development. Hence, both non-renewable and renewable-based energy ought to be consumed cautiously and proficiently, considering that resources are scarce. Furthermore, in the context of climate change and global warming, renewable energy reservoirs offer a fascinating substitute for fossil fuel energy sources, and contribute to plummeting CO2 emission activity. However, familiarizing societies with new renewable energy sources, technological tools, and making them accessible for residents is laborious and expensive. Moreover, nations must wrestle to maintain economic progression and growth alongside the implementation of these renewable energy sources.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, and welcome empirical and theoretical research papers and literature reviews that offer viable solutions to curtailing the environmental pressures on the ecosystem, and explore the nexus between renewable energy and economic growth. To achieve environmental sustainability, the impacts of renewable energy utilization on economic growth, especially focusing on hydro, solar, wind and geothermal energy’s interconnection with economic expansion in various economies or groups of economies, individually or collectively, must be considered. We invite scientific and technical papers that address climatic change vulnerability, renewable energy sources, and economic development in light of many other variables. Topics might include, but are not limited to, the following areas: renewable energy issues and economic growth; solar energy and growth relationships; wind energy and sustainable development or growth; and biomass energy and hydro energy in cities, provinces, countries or groups of countries. We are interested in how policymakers can drive several strategies and procedures for green and clean energy sustainability and maintain ecological excellence and economic development.

Papers chosen for this Special Issue will be subject to a very fast peer review process with the aim of the rapid and wide distribution of research results, developments, and applications. Specifically, we welcome papers focused on or related to (but not limited to) the topics listed below:
