Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the Special Issue “Energy Optimization and Waste Heat Recovery in Sustainable Industrial Process.” In today’s world, energy optimization and waste heat recovery have become crucial for creating more sustainable and efficient industrial processes. In light of the growing global demand for energy and ongoing environmental concerns, developing innovative technologies and strategies to improve energy efficiency and maximize resource utilization is more important than ever. Research in this area is essential for meeting global sustainability and decarbonization goals within the industrial sector.

The aim of this Special Issue is to gather original contributions that address the challenges and opportunities related to energy optimization and waste heat recovery in sustainable industrial processes. The topic of this Special Issue aligns with the scope of the journal, which is dedicated to advancing scientific and technological progress in energy efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in industrial processes. Our goal is to assemble a collection of at least 10 high-quality articles; if this number is reached, the Special Issue may also be published in book form.

We welcome both original research articles and review papers for this Special Issue. Relevant research areas include (but are not limited to)

  • Strategies and technologies for energy optimization in industry.
  • Methods and systems for waste heat recovery.
  • Modeling, simulation, and analysis of energy efficiency.
  • Integration of renewable energy in industrial processes.
  • Environmental and economic assessment of energy optimization solutions.
  • Innovations in thermal energy storage and management.
  • Case studies and industrial applications.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
