Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Sustainable entrepreneurship has become a critical driver of innovation, territorial development, and socioenvironmental transformation. However, the literature remains fragmented, mostly focusing on the environmental, economic, or social dimensions, while the cultural pillar and the interactions among all four pillars are often overlooked. At the same time, the rapid diffusion of digital technologies, data-driven processes, artificial intelligence, and platform-based models is reshaping how entrepreneurs create, scale, and sustain impact.

This Special Issue aims to collate cutting-edge research investigating how entrepreneurial initiatives generate sustainability impacts across multiple dimensions simultaneously, and how tradeoffs, synergies, and coevolution dynamics emerge in different territorial, organizational, and institutional contexts.

We welcome theoretical, empirical, methodological, and case-based contributions adopting interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary approaches. Particular attention will be paid to (1) entrepreneurial ecosystems supporting sustainability transitions, (2) place-based and culturally embedded forms of entrepreneurship, (3) circular economy and eco-design strategies, (4) social innovation and community-driven initiatives, and (5) methodological advances for assessing multi-pillar sustainability.

This Special Issue aims to advance the conceptualization and measurement of sustainable entrepreneurship by integrating cultural dynamics and explicitly addressing the “intersectionality” of sustainability pillars.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
