Enterprise Green Innovation and Sustainable Management Under Climate Change: Enabling Conditions, Ecosystem Synergies and Low-Carbon Transition Pathways

Climate change is reshaping the conditions under which firms, public institutions, and civil society organizations innovate, compete, and create long-term value. In this context, sustainable management is no longer limited to compliance or incremental efficiency gains; it has become a strategic framework for building resilience, accelerating decarbonization, and fostering inclusive development. This Special Issue, titled “Enterprise Green Innovation and Sustainable Management Under Climate Change: Enabling Conditions, Ecosystem Synergies and Low-Carbon Transition Pathways”, brings together contributions that examine how organizations and inter-organizational ecosystems respond to climate-related pressures and opportunities. We welcome research on the institutional, technological, financial, and social conditions that enable sustainability-oriented innovation, as well as studies exploring collaborations among firms, governments, universities, and communities in support of systemic transformation. Particular attention will be given to low-carbon transition pathways, circular and regenerative business models, climate governance, digitalization for sustainability, and the measurement of environmental and social impacts. By integrating perspectives from management, innovation studies, and sustainability transitions, this Special Issue aims to advance knowledge on how adaptive capabilities and ecosystem synergies can support credible, scalable, and just responses to climate change across sectors and regions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
