Sustainable Development and the Application of Nanocomposite Materials
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue “Sustainable Development and the Application of Nanocomposite Materials” focuses on recent advances in the design, synthesis, characterization, and practical applications of nanocomposite materials that contribute to sustainable development. Nanocomposites based on various matrices such as polymers, metals, or ceramics, exhibit enhanced mechanical, thermal, electrical, and functional properties compared to conventional materials.
The scope of this issue includes eco-friendly synthesis methods, the use of renewable or biodegradable materials, structure–property relationships, and innovative applications of nanocomposites in areas such as environmental remediation, water purification, energy technologies, sensors, and sustainable packaging.
The purpose of this Special Issue is to provide an interdisciplinary platform for researchers to present innovative research and emerging trends in sustainable nanocomposite materials. It aims to promote environmentally responsible material design and support the development of advanced technologies that address global sustainability challenges.
This Special Issue supplements existing literature by emphasizing eco-friendly design, renewable or biodegradable matrices, green synthesis, and life-cycle assessment. By integrating environmental, socio-economic, and technological considerations, it highlights practical applications of nanocomposites for sustainable development. The issue provides an updated, interdisciplinary perspective, bridging advanced materials research with measurable sustainability outcomes and policy-relevant approaches.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
