Urban and Environmental Economics towards Sustainability
This special issue belongs to the section "Economic and Business Aspects of Sustainability".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The United Nations established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2015. The SDGs call for actions to create improved living conditions for everyone while maintaining sustainable development. Of these Goals, urban and environmental issues raise increasing global concerns, including affordable and clean energy (Goal 7), industry, innovation and infrastructure (Goal 9), sustainable cities and communities (Goal 11), and climate action (Goal 13). These SDGs are linked to urban and environmental economics toward sustainability. Although a growing body of literature tries to address these issues in the context of economics, these SDGs remain understudied.
To stimulate discussion on these topics, the Special Issue seeks high-quality research papers that provide theoretical and practical insights into the achievements of the SDGs or other sustainable development goals within the framework of economic analysis. Both theoretical and empirical research papers related to the above topics are welcome with a preference for empirical analysis. Specifically, we are interested in the original papers that relate to, but not are limited to, the following topics:
- Affordable and clean energy
- Sustainable energy
- Energy and climate change
- Energy and infrastructure
- Industry, innovation, and infrastructure
- Industrialization
- Sustainable innovation
- Resilient infrastructure
- Sustainable cities and communities
- Sustainable urbanization
- Sustainable real estate
- Smart city
- Climate action
- Climate change and greenhouse gas emissions
- Climate change and its economic impacts
- Climate change and society conflict
