Recent advances in sensor technologies are redefining the healthcare landscape, enabling a transition from reactive, hospital-centric care to proactive, personalized, and data-driven health management. The convergence of miniaturized sensors, wearable devices, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and advanced communications technologies has created unprecedented opportunities for the continuous monitoring of physiological, behavioral, and environmental parameters. These developments are driving innovation in disease prevention, early diagnosis, remote patient monitoring, rehabilitation, and precision medicine. At the same time, global challenges such as population aging, the growing prevalence of chronic diseases, and rising healthcare costs highlight the urgent need for reliable, scalable, and accessible sensing solutions capable of supporting digital health ecosystems.
On the occasion of Sensors' 25th anniversary, this Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the latest advances in next-generation sensor technologies for digital health and biomedical applications. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and communications addressing novel sensing devices, methodologies, algorithms, and systems that contribute to improving healthcare delivery, patient outcomes, and biomedical research. Particular emphasis will be given to interdisciplinary contributions that connect sensor development to concrete clinical, biomedical, and healthcare applications.

This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive forum for researchers, engineers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to share innovative solutions and discuss future directions for sensor-based digital systems for health and biomedicine.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
