Nutritional Strategies for Age-Related Health: Mechanisms and Physiological Regulation
This special issue belongs to the section “Geriatric Nutrition“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Aging is characterized by a gradual decline in the body's ability to maintain homeostasis, driven largely by cellular and systemic dysfunction. While influenced by genetic factors, nutritional and dietary management, lifestyle modifications, and regular physical activity have been shown to effectively delay or prevent many age‑related diseases.
This Special Issue, titled “Nutritional Strategies for Age-Related Health: Mechanisms and Physiological Regulation,” aims to showcase cutting‑edge original research and reviews, including systematic reviews, that explore the multifaceted role of nutritional and dietary strategies in promoting healthy aging and combating age‑related diseases. The Issue will emphasize the impact of vitamins, minerals, and bioactive nutrients on physiological regulation in both health and disease states.
Additionally, the Issue will examine the potential of functional foods and dietary interventions such as calorie restriction, intermittent fasting, time‑restricted eating, and fasting‑mimicking diets, as well as specific dietary patterns—including ketogenic, Mediterranean, DASH, and MIND diets—in mitigating age‑related disorders. Submissions addressing the interplay between nutrition/diet and key conditions such as metabolic syndrome, inflammaging, neurodegeneration, and cardiovascular diseases are particularly encouraged.
We welcome original research and reviews that advance the mechanistic understanding of how nutrition and diet influence age‑related diseases. The goal is to provide valuable insights for researchers, clinicians, and public health professionals engaged in geriatric nutrition and age‑related disease management.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
