Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Gold is a critical mineral resource of both strategic and economic value, playing an irreplaceable role in global mineral systems and economic development. However, gold deposits formed under different tectonic settings, ages, and fluid systems show marked metallogenic differences. Even deposits with similar appearance and grade can differ significantly in trace element composition, fluid evolution, material sources, and geodynamic mechanisms—leading to distinct ore potentials, exploration values, and research significance.

This Special Issue focuses on cutting-edge research in gold mineralization. It aims to present recent advances in trace element constraints on metallogenic mechanisms, deposit genesis, and evolution of ore-forming systems. By bringing together original research from the global gold geology community, we seek to promote interdisciplinary integration, advance modern gold metallogenic theories, and offer new ideas, methods, and paradigms for gold exploration, resource assessment, and genetic studies.

We welcome submissions from researchers worldwide. Original research articles and review papers on global typical gold districts and metallogenic systems are invited. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

(1) Regional geological background, mineralization features, and spatiotemporal distribution of various gold deposit types;

(2) Mineralogical characteristics, ore-forming fluid properties, and evolution mechanisms of gold deposits;

(3) Trace element, isotopic geochemical, and geochronological data, and their constraints on metal sources, and enrichment–precipitation processes.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Minerals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
