Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue of Medicina, titled "Recent Advances in Coronary Heart Disease and Related Complications", explores the latest advancements in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease, as well as encountering both short- and long-term related complications and we would like to warmly invite you to submit your original research or review articles.

Although considerable progress has been made, coronary heart disease continues to be a major contributor to global morbidity and mortality. Ongoing research into risk stratification, innovative therapeutic approaches, and the interplay between CHD and comorbidities—such as heart failure, arrhythmias, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease—is steadily transforming clinical practice. We especially encourage the submission of interdisciplinary work, translational studies, and clinical trials that bring novel insights or challenge conventional thinking.

Furthermore, we encourage the submission of preclinical and clinical research, as well as narrative and systematic reviews, on the field of personalized medicine towards diagnosing and preventing coronary heart disease. The implementation of genomics, metabolomics and proteomics is highly increasing in cardiovascular disease, with coronary gene therapy being a profound example. Technology also in the field of interventional cardiology is widely expanding with novel imaging modalities and therapeutic approaches towards both reducing cardiovascular mortality and improving quality of life.

Through the presentation of these recent developments, this Special Issue aims to provide clinicians and researchers with up-to-date knowledge and innovative strategies to optimize the management of coronary heart disease, enhance patient outcomes, and reduce long-term complications.
