In the era of Industry 4.0, the integration of advanced manufacturing technologies with artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and big data analytics has catalyzed the evolution of smart manufacturing systems and industrial intelligence. These innovative systems are redefining production processes by enabling real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, optimized resource allocation, and enhanced decision making. By leveraging cyber-physical systems, smart manufacturing systems facilitate seamless communication between physical and digital worlds, leading to more efficient, flexible, and sustainable manufacturing operations. Meanwhile, industrial intelligence harnesses machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence to analyze vast datasets generated during production, uncovering patterns that drive operational excellence and process innovation.

This Special Issue, titled “Smart Manufacturing Systems and Industrial Intelligence”, showcases the latest advancements in these transformative fields. It explores cutting-edge applications, such as autonomous robotics, digital twins, smart supply chains, and cloud-based platforms, all of which are critical for achieving higher levels of automation and integration within industrial settings. The papers collected here aim to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implementation, offering valuable insights for academics, engineers, and policymakers. Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Machines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
