Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Environmental sciences have proven crucial in supporting policymakers in taking informed and timely decisions. However, with regard to formulating scientifically supported policies that are equitable and sustainable, much research work remains to be done to support the magnitude and urgency of transformation needed for cleaner production and sustainable development. This Special Issue aims to address this gap. To be more specific, emerging and developing economies have been consuming heavy fossil fuels and non-renewable sources for trade, commercial and urbanization purposes. Hence, this Special Issue invites papers that can discuss whether emerging economies should establish some environmental regulations, and furthermore, what risks these would entail to their economies, manufacturing sectors and stock markets.

This Special Issue calls for papers that explore the intersection of environmental sciences, trade, energy and climate policies. We invite authors from all fields of science that fall under the broader umbrella of environmental sciences, including, but not limited to, industrial ecology, ecological economics, and political economy. This Special Issue will also consider papers on developed economies using time series or panel data. However, comparative studies and research on developing and emerging economies are preferred. The focus of this Special Issue is not limited to energy economies but will also consider papers related to the aim and scope of this journal and sustainable development.

We invite authors to submit literature reviews, policy analysis, and original research. We particularly welcome work that directly addresses the link between policy and sustainability science. We welcome both reviews of literature and science-informed policy. Scientific studies are expected to directly discuss their policy relevance, implementation, and challenges. Policy studies are expected to reflect scientific advancements.
