Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue “Impacts of Violence on Women's Health and Prevention and Intervention Strategies” will explore the profound mental health consequences of gender-based violence and the need for effective societal responses. Beyond immediate trauma, survivors often experience depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (cPTSD), which significantly impair their functioning in daily life. The impact extends to relational difficulties and challenges in intimate partnerships and family life, as well as to the workplace, where victims may face reduced productivity, absenteeism, and economic vulnerability. Maternal health can also be affected, with violence associated with perinatal mental health problems, impaired mother–infant bonding, and the intergenerational transmission of trauma.
This Special Issue will emphasize the importance of prevention and intervention strategies that go beyond clinical treatment, encompassing public health policies, social responses, and community-based initiatives. Multidisciplinary approaches integrating trauma-informed care, workplace protections, and maternal health support are crucial, particularly when combined with strategies that address structural inequalities. Contributions that examine innovative policies, social responses, and cross-sectoral collaborations are encouraged, with the ultimate aim of advancing evidence-based practices that safeguard women’s mental health, promote resilience and empowerment, and strengthen comprehensive responses to gender-based violence.
