Preventing Suicide: Innovative Approaches and Best Practices in Healthcare
This special issue belongs to the section "Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Suicide prevention remains one of the most pressing challenges in mental health care, requiring coordinated efforts across clinical practice, public health, and community support systems. This Special Issue focuses on current research, practical approaches, and interventions that can help reduce suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, and suicide mortality.
We invite original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, meta-analyses, clinical and implementation studies, and methodological papers.
Relevant topics include the early identification of suicide risk and the assessment and management of suicidal ideation, self-harm, and suicidal behavior. We are also interested in psychotherapeutic, pharmacological, digital, and community-based interventions, along with postvention and support for families, caregivers, and professionals. Other areas of interest include suicide prevention in high-risk populations, integrated mental healthcare, safety planning, continuity of care after psychiatric hospitalization, and ways to improve access to evidence-based treatment.
Papers addressing artificial intelligence, digital technologies, prediction models, biomarkers, service organization, and the role of media and culture in suicide prevention are all welcome. We are particularly interested in studies that examine intervention performance in routine clinical practice and real-world healthcare settings, looking at their effectiveness, feasibility, acceptability, and implementation. If your study covers any of these areas, we would be happy to publish your contribution in this Special Issue.
