Advancing Clinical and Translational Research in Healthcare: From Innovation to Implementation and Impact
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Even with significant progress in clinical and public health research, putting evidence into practice remains a major global challenge. Clinical and translational research (CTR) is crucial in addressing this issue by developing strategies that facilitate the translation of evidence from initial discovery to practical application, thereby enhancing patient outcomes and the overall effectiveness of health systems. As a result, this process requires not only technical solutions but also collaboration across fields, workforce training, and implementation strategies tailored to specific situations.
This Special Issue will highlight fresh, pragmatic viewpoints that broaden the reach of clinical and translational research within diverse healthcare environments. We especially encourage submissions that examine how evidence-based interventions are adapted, implemented, and sustained in the real world. These settings include healthcare systems, educational institutions, and community organizations. We are especially interested in research that uses implementation science, workforce development, digital health, and interdisciplinary collaboration to address complex health challenges.
We welcome original research, along with systematic and scoping reviews, implementation studies, case reports, and commentaries. We are especially looking for work that offers practical advice for those in the trenches: clinicians, researchers, educators, and policymakers. This Special Issue will promote scalable, sustainable approaches. Our goal is to improve the ways in which evidence is put into practice and to support the global transformation of health systems.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
