Prevention and Health Interventions in Trauma and Traumatic Stress
This special issue belongs to the section "Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
- We are pleased to invite you to contribute to a Special Issue entitled “Prevention and Health Interventions in Trauma and Traumatic Stress”. Trauma is defined as any situation that causes any type of harm to a person; on the other hand, traumatic stress represents the overwhelming demands placed by trauma on a person. Trauma and traumatic stress have been associated with a wide variety of psychological and medical conditions. However, despite the large number of studies addressing this relationship, there is a need to extend the evidence supporting a causal relationship between trauma and traumatic stress and health effects on a basic neurological and clinical level. In addition, further evidence is needed in relation to the prevention and treatment of trauma and traumatic stress and its consequences.
- This Special Issue will showcase original studies and systematic and narrative reviews addressing the relationship between trauma and psychological and medical effects on a clinical and psychological level, as well as the effectiveness of prevention and intervention programs for this phenomenon. This Special Issue is related to the journal scope, addressing preventive healthcare, including themes as social determinants of health and health and lifestyle behaviors.
- For this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Cross-sectional studies on the relationship of psychosocial factors with trauma and traumatic stress;
- Cross-sectional studies on the relationship of psychosocial factors with trauma and traumatic stress health effects;
- Meta-analyses and reviews about these relationships;
- Clinical trials to assess the effectiveness of heath psychology or pharmacological interventions in preventing or treating trauma and traumatic stress effects;
- Meta-analyses and reviews on these interventions;
- Creation and validation studies for instruments related to trauma and traumatic stress.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.
