Advancing Communication in Healthcare for Special Populations: Equity, Access and Empowerment
This special issue belongs to the section “Public Health and Preventive Medicine“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite submissions to the Healthcare Special Issue, titled “Advancing Communication in Healthcare for Special Populations: Equity, Access and Empowerment”.
This Special Issue aims to address how matters regarding disease prevention, health literacy, and patient–provider communication could be addressed for better healthcare outcomes. Researchers are encouraged to submit scholarly works that address strategies that can function as tools to assist special populations in gaining access to quality healthcare and information in their respective communities. Specific groups in society might face several health issues at higher rates compared to other groups in their communities. Therefore, we seek to examine strategies in increasing positive health outcomes among people at risk for certain health issues.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Health communication campaigns designed to target special populations.
- Research that addresses issues surrounding equity and/or accessibility to healthcare for people belonging to special populations.
- Thoughts and experiences regarding lessons learned from health literacy/education projects among special populations.
- Steps taken using health strategies, for disease prevention, to empower special populations.
- Research about health provider/patient communication that targets special populations to encourage behavioral changes and/or access to quality healthcare.
- Papers addressing theoretical models and concepts with a focus on empowering and helping special populations gain access to quality healthcare.
I look forward to receiving your contributions.
