Editorial Board Members’ Collection Series: Advancements in Hydrogeology
This special issue belongs to the section "Hydrogeology".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Hydrogeology is a critical field that investigates the interactions between water and geological systems, with a focus on water flow, storage in aquifers, and surface water dynamics. Understanding these processes is essential for effective water resource management, particularly in the face of challenges such as climate change, land degradation, and population growth, which increasingly threaten our finite water supplies. This area of research is crucial for informing sustainable practices and mitigating water quality issues.
In recent decades, wildfires have emerged as a growing concern in hydrogeology due to their profound impact on both surface and groundwater quality and quantity. Post-fire changes in infiltration rates, runoff patterns, and contaminant transport can significantly affect water availability and safety, making this an urgent area of research.
This Special Issue aims to bring together cutting-edge studies that deepen our understanding of hydrogeological processes and support more resilient water management strategies. We welcome submissions on topics such as chemical and isotopic tracing, groundwater recharge, contamination assessment and remediation, climate impacts on water systems, and the hydrological effects of wildfires and other disturbances.
By encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, this Special Issue aims to make a meaningful contribution to the ongoing discourse in hydrogeology. We look forward to receiving your original research articles and reviews.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Geosciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
