Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Climate change is reshaping the structure and functioning of forested landscapes worldwide, with important consequences for water cycling, carbon storage, greenhouse gas exchange, biodiversity conservation, and broader ecosystem processes. Forests, peatlands, wetlands, and adjacent water bodies are closely interconnected components of the landscape, linked through hydrological, biogeochemical, and ecological interactions. Understanding these linkages is essential for assessing ecosystem resilience and predicting responses to changing precipitation regimes, rising temperatures, drought, and extreme weather events.

This Special Issue aims to bring together original research, reviews, and case studies addressing the effects of climate change on water, carbon, and ecosystem processes in forests, peatlands, wetlands, and water bodies. We welcome contributions focused on greenhouse gas fluxes, carbon and nutrient cycling, hydrological shifts, vegetation responses, ecosystem feedback mechanisms, and interactions among terrestrial and aquatic components of the landscape.

This Special Issue seeks to advance interdisciplinary understanding of climate-driven changes in interconnected forest and wetland landscapes and to support science-based strategies for their conservation and sustainable management in a rapidly changing world.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Forests is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
