Guidance, Navigation, and Control of Aerial Vehicles

Dear Colleagues,

Guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) are essential for the autonomous and reliable operation of aerial vehicles. They are responsible for determining attitude, position, and velocity, planning feasible flight trajectories or paths, and generating control commands to accurately follow those paths, while ensuring stability and safety. In real-world applications, Aerial vehicles must operate in complex and dynamically changing environments, often facing unpredictable disturbances such as wind, obstacles, or GPS-denied zones. Therefore, robust and intelligent GNC frameworks are critical to achieving mission success.

Therefore, we are pleased to announce this Special Issue dedicated to state-of-the-art solutions for GNC systems of aerial vehicles. Topics of interest include autonomous navigation and state estimation, path planning, trajectory optimization, adaptive and optimal control, multi-vehicle coordination, and experimental validations. Both theoretical advancements and application-oriented studies are welcome. The issue encourages interdisciplinary approaches, integrating techniques from control theory, robotics, artificial intelligence, and aerospace engineering.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
