Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is a broad term that encompasses a wide range of technologies, systems, and services that aim to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of transportation networks. The development of ITS can be traced back to the early 1960s, when researchers began to explore the use of computers and communication technologies to improve transportation systems. Over the years, ITS has evolved to include a wide range of technologies and applications, including advanced traffic management systems, intelligent transportation systems, connected vehicle technologies, and automated driving systems. These technologies have been applied in various transportation modes, including cars, buses, trains, and airplanes, to improve their performance, safety, and sustainability. Today, ITS continues to be an important area of research and development, with numerous government agencies, private companies, and academic institutions working to advance the state of the art in this field. The deployment of advanced ITS technologies is seen as critical to achieving a more sustainable and efficient transportation system, as well as improving the quality of life for people living in urban areas.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that focuses on creating machines that can perform tasks that would typically require human intelligence, such as learning, problem solving, decision making, and perception. Today, AI is a rapidly evolving field with numerous applications in industries such as healthcare, finance, and transportation. Specifically, AI-powered technologies are being used to develop autonomous vehicles, and they are also being used in other intelligent transportation system applications.

Concurrently, in this Special Issue, we hope to showcase the latest results from researchers in their attempts to explore new AI methods and algorithms with applications in intelligent transportation systems which can improve the efficiency and sustainability of transportation.

I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
