Human–Earth Systems and Sustainability
Section Information
Aim
Human–Earth Systems and Sustainability examines the coupled dynamics between human societies and the Earth system, emphasizing measurable interactions that shape climate, ecosystems, resource use, and long-term resilience. This section welcomes research that integrates socio-economic drivers, governance, and technological change with biophysical processes to clarify risks, trade-offs, and actionable pathways toward sustainable futures.
Scope
Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Land-use and land-cover change impacts;
- Water, food, and energy system interactions;
- Urbanization, infrastructure, and environmental pressures;
- Socio-ecological resilience and adaptation;
- Climate risk, vulnerability, and decision-support tools;
- Sustainable resource management and circular systems;
- Human drivers of biogeochemical and ecological change;
- Policy, governance, and equity dimensions of sustainability.
