Crystals: 15th Anniversary
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to announce that this Special Issue, celebrating the 15th anniversary of Crystals, is now open for submissions. Since its establishment, the journal has demonstrated steady growth in scientific relevance and international visibility, achieving an Impact Factor of 2.4 and maintaining a stable position within the JCR Q2 (Crystallography) quartile. This Special Issue marks an important milestone and offers an opportunity to highlight recent advances and emerging trends in the field of crystal science and engineering.
Scientific research in this field plays a pivotal role in advancing both fundamental knowledge and technological innovation. Crystalline materials exhibit highly ordered atomic and molecular arrangements that give rise to unique optical, electronic, mechanical, and thermal properties. Understanding and controlling these structures enable the development of new functional materials, ranging from advanced semiconductors and photonic components to catalysts, sensors, and biomimetic systems. Research on crystalline materials is inherently interdisciplinary, drawing on physics, chemistry, materials science, and a wide array of applied technological domains. Moreover, crystallographic studies provide critical insights into phase transitions, defect dynamics, and structure–property relationships, thereby driving the development of next-generation devices and processes.
In this Special Issue, we welcome contributions pertaining to crystal research in its broad meaning: from the design and synthesis of new crystal structures to the investigation of their physical and chemical properties, to their integration in cutting-edge technologies. We trust that this collection will serve as a valuable milestone, showcasing the dynamism of contemporary crystal science and fostering continued dialogue and collaboration while presenting the latest advancements in the field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Crystals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2100 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
