Recent Advances in Graphene and Other Two-Dimensional Materials (2nd Edition)
This special issue belongs to the section “Inorganic Crystalline Materials“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The advent of two-dimensional (2D) materials has profoundly transformed condensed matter physics and materials science. Since the discovery of graphene, the field has rapidly expanded to encompass a broad family of atomically thin systems, including graphene derivatives, transition metal dichalcogenides, 2D oxides, perovskites, MXenes, and other emerging 2D materials, as well as their heterostructures.
These materials exhibit outstanding electronic, optical, thermal, mechanical, and chemical properties, making them highly attractive for applications in flexible nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, photodetection, sensing, energy conversion and storage, catalysis, and 2D material-based membranes for separation, filtration, and energy-related processes. At the same time, continued advances in synthesis, functionalization, and integration strategies are essential to fully exploit their potential and to enable reliable, scalable, and application-oriented implementations.
Following the success of the first volume of the Special Issue “Recent Advances in Graphene and Other Two-Dimensional Materials”, (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/crystals/special_issues/Y04C68W0L2), we are pleased to announce the launch of 2nd Edition.
This Special Issue seeks to publish recent advances in the field of 2D materials, including graphene, graphene oxide, 2D chalcogenides, 2D oxides, 2D perovskites, silicene, germanene, borophene, phosphorene, and others. Both experimental and theoretical articles will be published in this Special Issue, offering the opportunity for researchers in this area to publish their recent results in full open access format.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Crystals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2100 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
