Functional Polymer Coatings and Films

A section of Coatings (ISSN 2079-6412).

Section Information

Recently the development of functional polymer coatings and films become one of the most rapidly developing area in the research and technology. Polymer-functionalized surfaces are applied in sensors, biomedicine, food industry, anticorrosion protection, smart window development and many other high-technology related areas.

This section is dedicated to fundamental and applied research on development of functional polymer coatings and films. The scope of “Functional Polymer Coatings and Films” section comprises functionalization procedures, which provide to polymer-based films specific recognition properties required for analytical and bioanalytical purposes or other useful properties, which are changing by applying some particular ‘stimulation’, e.g., electrochromic, photochromic, piezoelectric etc. All manuscripts to be considered for publication in this section will undergo a peer-review process and decisions will be based on the recommendations of independent reviewers.

Topics of interest of this Section include, but are not limited to:

  • functional polymer coatings and films
  • preparation and characterization of polymer films
  • polymer composite
  • surface modification
  • deposition technique of polymer coatings and films
  • polymer protective layers (anticorrosion, hydrophobic, fire-retardant, decorative, et al.)
  • polymer films applications (sensor; biomedical; food packaging; paper coatings; textile; solar energy; adhesives; catalyst)
