Advances in 3D-Printed Miniaturized Platforms for Biosensing

Dear Colleagues,
Integrated miniaturized biosensing systems enable precise manipulation of minimal sample volumes, multi-step analysis integration, and rapid and potentially multiplexed detection of biological targets. Miniaturized biosensors have already found applications in clinical diagnostics and point-of-care testing, food safety and quality monitoring, environmental monitoring, and wearable bioelectronics, among others. 3D printing technology adds to the rapid production of customized and geometrically advanced structures, providing new opportunities for the development of miniaturized and application-specific biosensing platforms.
This Special Issue aims to bring together the latest advances on the materials, mechanisms, and applications of 3D-printed miniaturized platforms for biosensing. The Issue will highlight current directions in 3D printing such as high-resolution light-based printing technologies, new printable materials for biosensing, post-print surface engineering and biofunctionalization strategies, while also reporting on integrated or directly printed biosensing platforms.
The contributors are particularly encouraged to focus on the analytical performance of biosensing devices and/or the advancements introduced by applying 3D printing technologies for device development.
Apart from those previously mentioned, applications covering the fields of 3D bioprinting and organ-on-chip are especially welcome.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biosensors is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
