Dear Colleagues,
Much of the recent literature investigates the prediction of the psychological factors influencing health behaviors, including smoking, drinking, physical activity, diet, risky sexual behavior, and health-seeking behavior in clinical health psychology. The goal of this research is to contribute to improving the health status of various populations by positively changing psychological factors, and thus health behaviors, in a timely manner. However, this transition has not been smooth, as the relationship between psychological factors and health behavior change is complicated: it is difficult to determine the specific psychological factors that explain health behaviors; the prediction of psychological factors is different in various health behaviors; psychological factors and health behaviors are not necessarily single behaviors (e.g., quit attempts vs. cessation maintenance are both regarded as quitting smoking), which diversifies the variables or measurements for the same factor or behavior; the relationship between psychological factors and health behaviors is different among various ethnic, racial, or social groups; and it is difficult to explain when and how psychological factors have an impact on health behaviors. Therefore, further research is required in this area. In this Special Issue of Behavioral Sciences, we welcome the submission of studies that either successfully address these issues or limits, lead toward potential solutions in the future, or significantly expand our current level of understanding of the impact of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and environmental factors on various health behavior changes.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Behavioral Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
