Dear Colleagues,
Following the success of the first edition, we are pleased to launch the second volume of the Special Issue "Oxidative Stress in Cell Senescence". Oxidative stress remains a central driver of cellular senescence and age-related functional decline, influencing key processes such as genome stability, mitochondrial function, proteostasis, inflammation, and tissue regeneration. Increasing evidence also highlights the complex interplay between redox imbalance, metabolic reprogramming, epigenetic regulation, and the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), emphasizing their contribution to aging and numerous chronic diseases.
At the same time, growing interest has focused on innovative strategies aimed at modulating oxidative stress and delaying senescence, including natural compounds, bioelectrical stimulation, biomaterials, nanotechnology, and regenerative medicine approaches. Understanding these mechanisms is essential for identifying novel therapeutic targets and improving healthy aging.
This Special Issue welcomes original research articles, reviews, and perspectives addressing molecular and cellular mechanisms linking oxidative stress to senescence in different biological systems. Contributions exploring stem cell biology, tissue repair, inflammation, redox signaling, mitochondrial dysfunction, biomarkers of senescence, and emerging therapeutic interventions are particularly encouraged.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Antioxidants is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
