Advanced Fluid Flow Modeling and Next-Generation Engineering Simulations and Optimization in Aerospace Applications
This special issue belongs to the section "Aeronautics".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Currently, aerospace engineering is at an interesting stage of development and transformation. New aerodynamic concepts, for both urban environments and high altitudes, are investigated; contemporary materials and structures, together with innovative production techniques, are introduced; unmanned air vehicles are growing in number, size and purpose; novel propulsion options and energy sources are considered; dynamics and control are progressing, together with improved electronics (sensors and actuators) and the growing involvement of AI in the design and maintenance processes; multi-physics issues are now frequently considered. To enable all these development courses, it is necessary to perform reliable, sufficiently accurate and complex engineering simulations, that usually start with aerodynamic issues and fluid flow analyses. This Special Issue aims to bring together some of these topics and present some of the state-of-the-art numerical and optimization studies in contemporary aerospace applications. Special focus is given to the challenging aerodynamic investigations that differ in some way from the regularly performed ones as well as their interactions with structural and thermal analyses. Also, validation techniques and experimental results are particularly valuable since they are a necessary supplement to the trustworthy engineering simulations. The main goal of this Special Issue is to offer some new knowledge and experience to both the readers and the authors.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Aerospace is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
