Aerospace 2023 Young Investigator Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Aerospace is now inviting nominations for the Aerospace 2023 Young Investigator Award. This prize will be given to one young investigator in recognition of their excellence in the field of aerospace science, engineering and technology, disclosing theoretical, fundamental and applied results linked to potential applications that are related to research, design, manufacture, operations, control and maintenance of aircraft and spacecraft. All nominations will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee led by the Editor-in-Chief.
The Prize
− CHF 2000;
− Option to publish one paper free of charge in Aerospace after peer review before the end of 2024;
− An electronic certificate.
Eligibility and Requirements
− Must have received their PhD no more than 10 years prior to 31 December 2023;
− Must have produced ground-breaking research and made a significant contribution to the advancement of research field;
− Candidates must be nominated by senior scientists.
List of Documents for Nomination
– Detailed Curriculum Vitae, including an updated publication list and a list of the researcher’s own research grants;
− Scanned copy of doctorate certificate;
− Signed nomination letters from two established senior scientists.

Aerospace 2022 Best Paper Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the “Aerospace 2022 Best Paper Award” for research and review articles published in Aerospace from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022. One review and one research article will receive an award each. The papers will be selected after a thorough evaluation by the Journal Award Committee led by the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Konstantinos Kontis.
Eligibility for the Award:
– Papers published in Aerospace from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022;
– Open to all career levels;
– Both regular and Special Issue submissions will be considered.
Selection Criteria:
The papers will be selected by the Journal Award Committee according to the following criteria:
– Scientific merit and broad impact;
– Originality of the research objectives and/or the ideas presented;
– Creativity of the study design or uniqueness of the approaches and concepts;
– Clarity of presentation;
– Citations and downloads.
The Prize:
– One review award: CHF 500 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Aerospace in 2024 after peer review;
– One research article award: CHF 500 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Aerospace in 2024 after peer review;
– Each winner will also receive a certificate.
The winners will be announced on the journal website in March 2024.

Dr. Mattia Pugliatti, a PhD student and early-stage researcher in DART laboratory, Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
Dr. Daniel Martinez-Sanchis, a PhD student in the Department of Space Propulsion, Technical University of Munich, Germany.
Dr. Panayiotis Tsokanas, a postdoctoral researcher in the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (INEGI), Portugal.
As the awardees, they will each receive an honorarium of CHF 500 and an electronic certificate.

Andres Rivero Bracho is a PhD student at University of Bristol whose research focuses on composite camber morphing devices for fixed-wing applications. He presented his work “Numerically Efficient Three-Dimensional Fluid-Structure Interaction Analysis for Composite Camber Morphing Aerostructures” at AIAA SciTech Forum 2020 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
Giulia Becatti is a PhD student at University of Pisa whose research focuses on space electric propulsion. She is planning to present her work “Plume Instabilities in a 25A LaB6 Hollow Cathode” at the Space Propulsion 2020 in Estoril, Portugal.
The awards consist of 650 Swiss Francs each towards attending the conference.

Stefania Carlotti, a PhD student at Politecnico di Milano, whose research focuses on multiphase flow in solid rocket motors. She is planning to present her work “Performance and environmental impact prediction of SRMs. Road map for reliable dataset of particles in plume” at the 70th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2019) in Washington, D.C., USA.

He is planning to present his work “Cislunar non-Keplerian orbits rendezvous & docking: 6DOF guidance and control” at the 69th International Astronautical Congress in Bremen, Germany.
Nikolaos Perakis, a PhD student at Technical University of Munich, whose research focuses on rocket propulsion. He is planning to present his works “Heat transfer and combustion simulation of a 7-element GOX/ GCH4 rocket combustor” and “Qualitative and quantitative comparison of RANS simulation results for a 7-element GOX/GCH4 rocket combustor” at the 54th AIAA/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.
The awards consist of 600 Swiss Francs each towards attending these conferences.

Malte Merk, a PhD student at the Technical University of Munich, whose research focuses on identification of combustion noise and flame dynamics of confined turbulent flames. He is planning to present his work “Quantitative Comparisons between LES Predictions and Experimental Measurements of Sound Pressure Spectra in a Conned Swirl Combustor” at the AIAA 2017: Propulsion and Energy.
Vittorio Memmolo, a PhD student at the University of Naples Federico II, whose research focuses on Structural Health Monitoring of aerospace composite structures using reliable wave propagation methods. He is planning to present his work “Advanced Damage Detection in Stiffened Composites Using Distributed Sensors” and “Acousto-Ultrasonic Investigation on Composites for Electro Mechanical Impedance Method Assessment” at the 20th International Conference of Composite Structures.
The awards consist of 600 Swiss Francs each towards attending these conferences.
