Cover Story: A novel fluorine-free electrodeficient dipyridylbenzene ligand, [N^C^N], was successively synthetized and used to obtain two phosphorescent complexes of Pt(II) and Ir(III). Both complexes demonstrate high luminescence quantum yields in deaerated solution at room temperature, 18% and 61% for Pt(II) and Ir(III) complexes, respectively. The Pt(II) derivative is a rare example of a fluorine atom-free blue emitting [N^C^N]PtCl complex. View this paper
