Cover Story: In the 20th century, the role of information increased immensely while the speed of information production accelerated. To adapt, people created information processing technology and started exploring information and information systems and processes. Information studies intensified and many theories of information were created. In spite of all these efforts, there is no unanimous understanding of the nature and essence of information. In this work, two approaches to information are presented in a dialogue between two researchers. One demonstrates how the general theory of information elucidates the phenomenon of information by explaining the foundations and comprehensive mathematical theory. The other presents an info-autopoietic information theory based on Bateson’s approach. The goal is to help the reader better understand the phenomenon of information. View this paper
