Lubricants, Volume 13, Issue 1

2025 January - 40 articles

Cover Story: Understanding lubrication at the nanoscale is crucial for reducing friction. This study delves into the underexplored influence of surface texture on lubrication using molecular dynamics simulations. Focusing on sinusoidal-, sawtooth-, and squaretooth-wave-patterned surfaces with hexadecane as the lubricant, this study examines rheological behaviour under varying loads and shear rates. The results reveal that surface patterns significantly affect crystalline bridge formation and structure. These findings offer valuable insights for designing nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMSs) and other applications where boundary conditions are critical. View this paper
