Cover Story: As a transition strategy towards sustainability, food packaging plays a crucial role in the current era. This, in the context of the biorefinery of agricultural residues, implies not only obtaining desirable products not derived from fossil resources but also a comprehensive utilization of biomass that contributes to the circular bioeconomy. The present work proposes the preparation of absorbent bioactive food pads through a multiproduct biorefinery approach from bay tree pruning residues. The use of these bioactive pads has been successfully evaluated for the preservation of fresh burger meat, resulting in the delay of food oxidation during storage. View this paper
