Cover Story: This illustration depicts a neutron beam hitting a magnetic crystal with frustrated bonds, which ultimately generates a set of incommensurate magntic Bragg peaks on the detector. The data are then analysed using powerful computers that employ simulated and quantum annealing. This computational approach explores the various magnetic phases that could produce such an interesting scattering pattern. A broadband neutron beam probes the holmium tetraboride spin texture, revealing complex phase behavior through unique scattering signatures. In parallel, annealing algorithms investigate candidate Hamiltonians to accurately reproduce these observed phases. By bridging real-space measurements with cutting edge computations, this integrated approach uncovers the emergent magnetic orders driven by frustration, especially those occurring near magnetic phase transitions. View this paper
