AI Trends in Teacher and Student Training—2nd Edition
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
Following the success of the First Edition, this Second Edition responds to the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, driven by recent advances in generative AI, large language models (LLMs), intelligent agents, multimodal AI, learning analytics, and adaptive educational systems. These developments have transformed teaching, learning, assessment, educational management, and research while creating new technical, pedagogical, ethical, and societal challenges that justify renewed scientific attention.
This Topic welcomes original contributions addressing the design, development, implementation, validation, and evaluation of AI-driven technologies for teacher education and student learning across all educational levels. We particularly encourage research on intelligent tutoring systems, AI-based assessment, learning analytics, explainable and trustworthy AI, human–AI interaction, multimodal learning environments, educational data mining, adaptive learning systems, and AI-supported educational decision-making. Particular attention is given to AI applications that support teachers’ professional development, enhance student learning and personalized learning experiences, and promote inclusive, accessible, and equitable education for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs through assistive AI technologies and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Contributions addressing AI literacy, responsible AI, ethics, transparency, privacy, and academic integrity are also encouraged.
By bringing together interdisciplinary research from computer science, artificial intelligence, learning sciences, and education, this Second Edition aims to identify emerging research directions and advance the development of trustworthy, effective, inclusive, and human-centred AI technologies that improve teaching, learning, and educational opportunities worldwide.

Participating Journals
Preprints.org is a multidisciplinary platform offering a preprint service designed to facilitate the early sharing of your research. It supports and empowers your research journey from the very beginning.
MDPI Topics is collaborating with Preprints.org and has established a direct connection between MDPI journals and the platform. Authors are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by posting their preprints at Preprints.org prior to publication:
i. Share your research immediately: disseminate your ideas prior to publication and establish priority for your work.
ii. Safeguard your intellectual contribution: Protect your ideas with a time-stamped preprint that serves as proof of your research timeline.
iii. Boost visibility and impact: Increase the reach and influence of your research by making it accessible to a global audience.
iv. Gain early feedback: Receive valuable input and insights from peers before submitting to a journal.
v. Ensure broad indexing: Web of Science (Preprint Citation Index), Google Scholar, Crossref, SHARE, PrePubMed, Scilit and Europe PMC.
