Advanced Research on Vehicle Noise and Vibration
This special issue belongs to the section "Vehicle Dynamics and Control".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the advancement of vehicle electrification and intelligent systems, vehicle NVH issues have undergone profound changes. The electrification of powertrains has altered vibration and noise sources, while lightweight, multi-material hybrid structures have increased the complexity of NVH control. Meanwhile, intelligent cockpits have introduced new demands for active acoustical control and personalized design. Faced with these challenges, traditional NVH technologies have proven inadequate in addressing wide-bandwidth, multi-physics coupling, and digital twin-driven design. Accordingly, this Special Issue aims to bring together the world’s leading research findings, focusing on solving advanced scientific problems and core engineering technologies in the field of vehicle noise and vibration.
This Special Issue pays particular attention to the following research hotspots and directions: new materials and structural technologies, digitalization and intelligent technologies, characteristics and mechanisms of novel vibration and noise sources, and human factors engineering and sound quality. Research into these advanced technologies aims to enhance the efficiency of full vehicle NVH performance development and advance vehicle NVH technology toward active and intelligent control and design.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Applications of acoustic metamaterials and intelligent materials;
- Mechanisms for acoustic and vibration control in advanced materials and structures;
- Forward-design of NVH based on Digital Twin;
- Rapid prediction of acoustic responses and topological optimization based on machine learning/deep learning;
- AI-driven sound quality prediction and active control;
- Noise from electric drive systems (motors, gearboxes);
- Novel characterization and control of aerodynamic and road noise;
- Audible cues design for electric vehicles;
- Vehicle interior sound zone separation technologies;
- Active noise control and intelligent sound design;
- Human factors engineering in intelligent cockpits.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Vehicles is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
