Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Big Earth Observation data are playing an increasingly important role in supporting the monitoring, assessment, and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The growing availability of satellite missions, in situ networks, airborne and UAV observations, and geospatial data infrastructures provides new opportunities for large-scale environmental monitoring, climate services, agricultural assessment, disaster risk management, land-cover mapping, and natural resource management. At the same time, the volume, heterogeneity, and complexity of these datasets require advanced methods for data integration, analysis, validation, and interpretation.
This Special Issue aims to collect recent advances in the use of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, geospatial analytics, and interoperable data frameworks for exploiting Big Earth Observation data in support of sustainable development. Contributions may address methodological developments, operational applications, validation strategies, FAIR data approaches, semantic interoperability, multi-source data fusion, cloud-based processing, and decision-support tools. We particularly welcome studies demonstrating how remote sensing and geospatial technologies can contribute to environmental monitoring, climate resilience, agriculture, water resources, biodiversity, urban sustainability, and other SDG-related challenges.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Remote Sensing is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
