Gold Nanoparticles in Cancer Photothermal Therapy: Current Trends and Future Directions
This special issue belongs to the section “Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Photothermal therapy is a treatment method that is being actively researched as an alternative to conventional cancer treatments. Because it does not involve incisions, it has the advantages of no bleeding and a rapid recovery.
Photothermal therapy uses nanoscale nanoparticles as photothermal agents. Among these, gold nanoparticles, which are classified as noble metals, are widely produced and studied due to their advantages, including low toxicity, high biocompatibility, and excellent surface processability.
The effectiveness of photothermal therapy depends on the shape, size, and amount of gold nanoparticles injected. Furthermore, the injection site and distribution of gold nanoparticles also vary based on the shape and type of the target tissue.
This Special Issue, entitled “Gold Nanoparticles in Cancer Photothermal Therapy: Current Trends and Future Directions”, will focus on photothermal therapy using gold nanoparticles, with a specific focus on optimizing treatment efficacy and related conditions. We invite research contributions from all disciplines associated with photothermal therapy, including heat transfer, optics, nanotechnology, and bioengineering. The Special Issue aims to publish both research and review papers based on in vitro/in vivo experiments, as well as numerical and analytical analyses.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Pharmaceutics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
