Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the 15th anniversary of Pathogens in 2027, we reflect on the remarkable evolution of the journal and the growing global significance of infectious disease research. The Bacterial Pathogens Section has been at the forefront of this journey, publishing cutting-edge work that advances our understanding of bacterial infection, host interactions, and antimicrobial resistance.
To celebrate this milestone, we are launching a Feature Paper Collection in the Bacterial Pathogens Section. We invite submissions of original research, reviews, or communications that address key topics within the section's scope, including but not limited to:
- Molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis and virulence;
- Host–pathogen interactions and immune evasion;
- Bacterial toxins, secretion systems, and biofilms;
- Antimicrobial resistance and novel therapeutic strategies;
- Vaccine development against bacterial diseases;
- Epidemiology, transmission, and emerging bacterial outbreaks;
- Bacterial genetics, genomics, and evolution;
- Zoonotic and veterinary bacterial infections.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Pathogens is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
