Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The past decade has witnessed tremendous progress in biomedicine and pharmaceutical research, a fact highlighted by the rapid development of vaccines in fighting the global pandemic and new modalities in treating serious diseases. In many cases, chromatography has been working behind the scenes in helping to drive this progress. Its applications are found in discovering new drug candidates, supporting pre-clinical and clinical development, and ensuring the quality of drugs for patient safety. Chromatography itself has also made been used to make significant advancements in recent history. The advent of ultra-high performance liquid chromatography has significantly shortened the time-consuming chromatographic process while preserving separation efficiency. Widespread use of hydrophilic interaction chromatography has helped to overcome the challenge of small polar compounds and plays a critical role in metabolomics. Many other advances in chromatography (e.g., microfluidic LC, 2D chromatography) are also being applied to drug discovery and development.

This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in chromatography, especially liquid chromatography, and its critical role in biomedical and pharmaceutical research. We plan to focus on the applications of liquid chromatography in various biomedical and pharmaceutical areas, for example, monoclonal antibody (Mab) drugs and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), nucleic acids-based drugs and vaccines (e.g., mRNA), proteomics and metabolomics, as well as complex drug systems (e.g., herbal medicines, nano-lipids formulations). However, other related topics are also welcome. A collection of critical reviews and original research papers in these areas will not only give credit to chromatography and chromatographers, but also help to the identify fundamental questions that need to be resolved and point out future directions of development for the field of chromatography. We hope that colleagues across the globe will present their research, additionally helping to drive the field of chromatography to a new level.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
