Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Marine structures play a fundamental role in supporting global maritime transportation, offshore energy production, coastal protection, and port infrastructure. As the marine industry continues to evolve toward smarter, more sustainable, and resilient infrastructure, there is an increasing demand for innovative approaches to structural design, advanced manufacturing technologies, and intelligent monitoring systems. At the same time, ageing infrastructure, harsh environmental conditions, and the expansion of offshore renewable energy require reliable solutions for structural assessment, maintenance, refurbishment, and lifecycle management. Recent advances in computational mechanics, finite element analysis, robotic and automated manufacturing, additive manufacturing, structural health monitoring (SHM), digital twins, smart sensing technologies, non-destructive testing (NDT), and artificial intelligence (AI) have significantly improved the design, fabrication, inspection, and maintenance of marine structures. Furthermore, emerging joining technologies, including adhesive bonding and hybrid connections, together with modern rehabilitation and strengthening techniques, are opening new opportunities for extending the service life and improving the performance of both new and existing marine infrastructure. This Special Issue aims to present the latest research and engineering developments in advanced design, manufacturing, structural monitoring, inspection, and lifecycle management of marine structures. Original research papers and comprehensive review articles addressing experimental, analytical, numerical, and data-driven approaches are welcome. Contributions focusing on practical engineering applications for offshore structures, ships, ports, coastal infrastructure, marine renewable energy systems, and other marine engineering structures are particularly encouraged. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
